You make a donation. Beat the Blackout only authorizes your account for the amount of the donation until the goal is reached. The funds for your donation are not removed from your account unless the campaign reaches the goal for that week. If the goal is not reached, the authorization is removed and no funds are removed from your account (credit card, PayPal, etc.).
Blackout Remains. Should there not be enough in donations to purchase the remaining Charger tickets, your donation isn't taken...plain and simple.
Blackout Lifted! When enough money is collected and the goal for the week is reached, Beat the Blackout contacts the Chargers and Ticketmaster to purchase the tickets in bulk. Each authorization is then converted to a capture, and the funds are collected from all donors.
Tickets to Charity. The majority of the tickets will be give to local Boys & Girls clubs around San Diego so disadvantaged families can go to Qualcomm and enjoy watching the Chargers win (hopefully!). A minority of the tickets will be given away as prizes at Oggi's Pizzeria's around the county, on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the game. Any cash proceeds will be used for paying staff and the operation of Beat the Blackout.
